PURPOSE
FND Hope UK are currently in the process of organising Peer to Peer Support Groups across the United Kingdom.
Peer support is the intended result of a structured bringing together of a group of people to share common difficulties and experiences associated with a particular problem, disorder, condition, illness or personal circumstances, such as Functional Neurological Disorder [FND]. People who attend Peer Support Group meetings, truly understand what it is like to live with FND and can share and exchange first-hand, their experiences and insight with other members who may be suffering with the same disorder or with similar symptoms and thus they may offer empathy, support, friendship or help to build confidence.
Objectives
- Provide support, share experience, educational materials to those who attend the Peer Support Group meetings.
- Request intermittently, FND Specialists Speakers, or other organisations (Citizen Advice Bureau etc) to attend the Peer Support Group throughout the lifecycle of the Group to provide appropriate updates or information.
- Topics to be discussed at Peer Support Groups will be agreed by Peers
Its a great way to meet other who have been diagnosed with Functional Neurological disorder, including their friends, families and carers over a cuppa.
