Julie Wright lives in Australia and has been an active member of our FND Hope AU/NZ group, the FND Hope Mind Body Soul group and our main FND Hope Functional Neurological/Conversion Disorder group.
Julie brings to her new role as Online Support Director for FND Hope a working background within a tight multi-disciplinary team of medical professionals in Emergency Services, her role being frontline in acute medicine. Her previous roles in Project Marketing, Event Management, Public Speaking and coordination of Media broadcasts, Social and Editorial media on a National level has made Julie a great fit with our International Marketing Team in creating FND awareness globally. Julie works with Neurologist Dr Alex Lehn and his team who specialise in FND at the Mater Neuroscience Centre in Brisbane creating FND Awareness with the Australian media. Together with the Mater Hospital Marketing team, Julie assisted with the ABC Interview that aired nationally across Australia on prime time television earlier this year in 2016 featuring Neurologist Dr Alex Lehn and his patients in creating FND awareness. Julie has also worked with Bridget Mildon in assisting the coordination of Dr Alex Lehn and his patient’s participation in the Australian SBS programme Mind V Body segment where FND Awareness received 40 minutes of airplay on prime time television across Australia just recently.
Julie is very dedicated and committed to creating FND Awareness in all sectors of the medical community, the general public, patients, their families and carers. She was diagnosed with FND in April 2015 by neurologist Dr Alex Lehn. Julie had never heard of FND even though she had worked in the medical field. Dr Alex Lehn and his team educated her whilst successfully treating Julie to a level of recovery with full mobility and a great lessening of symptoms that continue to improve. Neurologist Dr Alex Lehn is a colleague of Neurologist Professor Mark Edwards in the UK and Neurologist Dr Jon Stone in Edinburgh.
