Lorraine Kelly interviewing Trustee Cindy Smulders on FND
FND Hope UK Trustee Cindy Smulders is interviewed by Lorraine Kelly.
Cindy is hoping to raise awareness for the brain condition called functional neurological disorder, that left her 17-year-old daughter Georgia paralysed. Georgia fell off a bench and hit her head on a concrete wall, but despite FND being quite common, not many medical professionals have heard of it and she was repeatedly diagnosed with a concussion. The fall left her paralysed and unable to speak, but through physical therapy, the brain is able to reconnect and Georgia is slowly learning to speak and gain control of her limbs. Her mum Cindy hopes to spread awareness of this condition and the charity FND Hope UK, which has continued to help her family through this difficult time.
